Not everyone that commits to a fitness and nutrition plan is overweight or obese. Even some of the slimmest people by normal standards want to better their lives through proper nutrition and working out. Haley, from South Florida, made the change and commitment two years ago to become leaner and toner. In the past 2 years, Haley has dropped body fat from 25% to 12%. Her ultimate goal is 8% body fat. She was 115 pounds and now she’s a slim and lean 102 pounds.
How long have you been working out?
I have been working out for 2 years now.
What’s your biggest accomplishment since you started training and eating right?
My biggest accomplishment would have to be that I just feel much more healthier and I have more energy throughout the day and not dragging my feet around.
How many times do you work out a week and for how long?
I train 4 times a week, anywhere from 1-2 hours.
What are your workouts like?
My workouts usually consist of a 5 min warmup cardio, stretching, weight training with machines and free weights and at the end of every workout I do 30 mins of cardio either jumprope or stair master.
What food can’t you live without?
Foods that I can’t live without would be grilled chicken and fruits!
Do you have any cravings and if so, what?
I have a big sweet tooth so I crave sweets a lot. But I will eat fruit like strawberries, blueberries and Pinapple!
Do you follow a specific meal plan?
I do not follow a specific meal plan, but I just try to keep it low carb and high protein, and to eat every 3-4 hours (small meals).
How do you motivate yourself?
I motivate myself by keeping a older picture of myself when I weighed more on my mirror. I have to look at it everyday and it reminds me to just keep going and not get back to that weight.
Do you have a favorite meal or recipe?
My favorite meal would have to be dinner as grilled chicken and lots of veggies and sometimes I will make sweet potatoes.
Where you always in shape like you are now?
No I was not always in shape, but yet I was never really over weight. I am only 5’1 so it is hard for me to put on any weight.
Do you take any supplements? if so what?
I do not take any supplements, no Pre workouts or anything. I only do protein shakes, fish oil and flaxseed oil.
What’s your tip for someone starting to work out and eating healthy?
For anyone who is just starting to workout and eating right, my best advice would be to never give up. Change takes time and patience, just because you don’t see results right away does not mean that it isn’t working. Just try an take it day by day and maybe start with a friend so you can keep each other motivated also. And just remember why you started in the first place! Also it IS OK to eat, don’t ever starve yourself!
